| What if my child cries or is afraid? |
|
Many of our Aloha Teachers are parents too! All of our Teachers love kids! It pulls on our "heart strings" too, to see a unhappy child. We know that as the other hundreds of kids we have had the priviledge to teach, your Child, too will be giggly and happy to see us in no time! It just takes a few lessons. Please remember that the frown (and tears) does not come from the liking or not liking the Teacher rather the uncertainty and unknowing combined with the activity without Mom or Dad. You will be happily surprised how fast we will be able to "turn that frown upside down"! Just "hang in" with patience and persistance and the fear and anxiety goes away after a few lessons learning and knowing the consistancy. Plus having fun playing in the playroom and getting a prize from the Treasure Chest doesn't hurt the matter! Our teachers are trained to deal with even the most fearful swimmer and we love kids! Our Instructors will stay patient and encouraging but persistent so that all of our swimmers learn to their maximum capacity. Most young children will cry the first few lessons due to not being with their parent. We encourage you to sit in the observation room where you child can begin bonding with his/her instructor without you in sight. If you choose to sit by the pool, you may, but the time needed for bonding between Instructor and Child may increase. If any parent is sitting by the pool and it is affecting their own children or the class as a whole with their learning ability we will request you to sit in the viewing room. On average, the fourth lesson is usually what Aloha calls the "magic" lesson where our younger kiddos stop crying and start having fun! By then they are use to Aloha Aquatic Center, their Teacher, and usually don't cry in lessons but cry when Mom or Dad wants to leave to go home and they can't stay and play anymore! ALOHA! Where we LOVE our LOCALS! |
