Why we feel swim lessons are important
  • Nobody can make your child 100% water safe. The only sure way of preventing a child drowning is to watch your children around water. There are lessons that your child can learn to help prevent an accident from becoming a tragedy. We review these safety strategies at every lesson.
  • First, we emphasize with each child the importance of having an adult around any time they are around water.
  • Second, we teach what to do in case of a water emergency. Adults and children alike should stay calm, turn to their back, and concentrate on breathing until help arrives. This simple strategy can buy the child (or adult) a few minutes ... which is all it takes to save a life many times. Depending on the swimming ability of the person, we also teach him/her that he/she may be able to turn and swim to the side.
  • Lastly, we believe swim lessons should include a realistic trial of an emergency situation. Periodically we will have a "safety day." We ask the parent to bring an extra set of clothing for their child. The child reviews the safety skills she has learned in full clothing and shoes. This precaution teaches the child the difference clothes and shoes can make while trying to stay afloat.
  • It is VERY important to keep young children in swim lessons year-round, they do not retain skills unless constantly practices so our once a week lessons allow your family's busy schedule at the same time as keeping your young child's skills with LEARNING * BUILDING * RETAINING* We will have periodic closures (See our Calendar or Front Desk for dates) that gives your family and your Teacher short "breaks" while still coming back to retain skills. Our unlimited makeups also allows your family to continue your busy lifestyles without worrying about having to miss swim class when needed!
