Frequently Asked Questions

When can I sign up?

Any time! Please call one of our friendly office staff members at (480)786-0703 to enroll in ALOHA Aquatic Center. Our friendly office staff members will be happy to answer any questions that you have, and help you enroll your child in a skill appropriate class.

What if I want to visit the facility before signing my child(ren) up?
You are more than welcome to come visit our facility! You will be able to take a tour, and watch lessons going on in our 91/92° pool from our Observation/Play room. You will also be able to personally ask any questions you have to our Friendly Office Staff members.

What should I bring to class?
We provide all of the necessary equipment required for swimming class. All you need to bring is a swimsuit and towel (children under the age of three must wear a properly fitting swim diaper). We do not recommend goggles for beginners due to learning safety skills in Arizona. Learning safety skills without goggles is important should an accident occur outside of lessons. Once your child has mastered the beginning safety skills, if you choose to bring your own goggles, please have them adjusted to fit your child. Please do not bring floatation suits, floatation devices, “water wings”, scuba masks, or any other aquatic device that might hinder your child’s education of water skills.

What if my child cries or is afraid?
Our teachers are trained to deal with even the most fearful swimmer. Our Instructors will stay patient and encouraging but persistent so that all of our swimmers learn to their maximum capacity. Most young children will cry the first few lessons due to not being with their parent. We encourage you to sit in the observation room where you child can begin bonding with his/her instructor without you in site. If you choose to sit by the pool, you may, but the time needed for bonding between Instructor and Child may increase. If any parent is sitting by the pool and it is affecting their own children or the class as a whole with their learning ability we will request you to sit in the viewing room.

Can I “try” a lesson?
It is unfair to both the child and the Instructor to “try” a lesson. Children learn best from repetition, and to begin that sequence and not follow through would be similar to saying its nap time, but never putting them down. After starting/stopping lessons once it will be much more difficult the second time. Therefore you must commit to at least 8 lessons.

Do I need to change classes when my child changes levels?
Classes tend to progress together, which means that the class will change levels when the Instructor decides they are ready. Children will advance to the next level after all the skills in that level have been completed. At this time the Instructor will speak with you about your child’s advancement to the next level. Different levels may require a new teacher but we will do our best to find a positive match for your child’s advancing skills.

What if I have questions or comments about my child’s lessons or class?
All questions can be addressed through the Front Desk. We will be happy to ask the Instructor any and all of your questions. Clients come first at ALOHA Aquatic Center. We are here to meet your needs, and we will do our very best to do so. The Front Desk is always happy to hear your comments and/or concerns. Please let us know how your child and your family are doing in our program. If you feel your Instructor should be nominated for the Staff of the Month awards, please let the Front Desk know. Everyone likes to feel appreciated!

What about teacher request?
Some of our students and many of our parents have become fond of a particular instructor. We are aware and understand that different students respond to different teaching personalities. We will always try to respond to these needs. However, we do not guarantee specific instructors and we reserve the right to change instructors if other considerations necessitate the change. We strive to place instructors in positions to provide the best swimming experience for your child.

What are my payment options?
For our Membership Program we take payments three different ways:
1. Monthly automatic debit from checking or savings accounts.
2. Monthly automatic debit from American Express, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
a. All accounts will automatically be charged on the 3rd day of each month for the upcoming month’s lessons.
3. If you wish to pay by cash, check or non-automatic debit credit card we request that you pay three months tuition in advance.
For our Seasonal Session Program we take two different types payments:
1. Cash or Check made payable to ‘ALOHA Aquatic Center’
2. Credit from American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
a. Both of these payments must be made in full within 48 hours of Reservation.

How do I change my day or time?
You can always change class days or times by speaking with our Friendly Office Staff. If a lesson slot is not immediately available, we will place you on a waiting list and do our best to make the necessary change as soon as an opening becomes available

What if I miss a class, can I make it up?
At ALOHA Aquatic Center we are happy to offer one make-up lesson per eight lessons regardless of the Program in which you are enrolled, NO exceptions. ALOHA Aquatic Center must have prior knowledge of the child’s absence in order for a make-up lesson to be granted. If the office is not notified before a child misses class all make-up class rights are waived. Make-up lessons will be scheduled into on going classes, therefore, the month, day and time are not guaranteed. There will no make-up lessons for make-up lessons. If you forget your scheduled make-up or the make-up lesson you scheduled does not work, we cannot and will not allow you to re-schedule.

To report an absence or to schedule a make-up lesson you can call our Friendly Office Staff at (480)786-0703 or simply stop by the Front Desk.

Is your schedule available on the internet?
Currently it is not. We may make our schedule available online in the future, but currently we are not able to do so. Please give our Friendly Office Staff a call at (480)786-0703 to ask about availability.

Why is there a minimum of 8 lessons?
At ALOHA Aquatic Center we believe it is unfair to both the child and the Instructor to “try” a lesson. Children learn best from repetition, and to begin that sequence and not follow through would be similar to saying its nap time, but never putting them down. After starting/stopping lessons once it will be much more difficult the second time. Therefore you must commit to at least 8 lessons.

What if I join in the middle of a month?
If you join in the middle of the month your account will be pro-rated based on the number of lessons remaining in the month.

How long will my child attend lesson?
Our classes are continual which means that they will continue until you fill out a withdrawal form, 30 days in advance, indicating that you wish to take a break.

If there is any lapse in enrollment, the Registration fee of $25 will be applied to tuition when re-enrolled.

How do I withdraw my child from class?
Give us a 30 day written notice of your desired end date by filling out a withdrawal form. This form is available at the front desk or here. You may drop off a withdrawal request with the Front Desk. Please verify with the registration desk that we have received your request to withdraw.
