About Us

Aloha! You have found the right program for your family!

Aloha! Aquatic Center originated from Summer Splash, a well known seasonal swim program servicing thousands of families in the east valley for years. We have had the pleasure and opportunity to watch the children in our program grow from babies to toddlers, toddlers to older children, and children to young adults. In 2008, we reached our long-awaited goal of becoming year-round and indoors, enabling us to service our current clients as well as new clients throughout the whole year, expanding hours into the evenings, and on Saturdays.

Summer Splash, LLC was originated by a mother of three who spent her childhood swimming competitively, her teens and college years as a WSI Certified Instructor and Lifeguard, and made a career out of servicing the community with lessons for over fifteen years. We believe our learn- to-swim program has a competitive advantage as it is built on a background of instructing and evaluating several swim programs in Arizona as well as out of state and the results they were or were not able to reach. Arizona is a unique state for this industry; our children have access to water for most of their childhoods. We believe a swim program needs to be specifically designed for Arizona children and the intense danger our leisure backyard pools pose.

This program was built by a parent for parents. Our program is based on a combination of perspectives from club competitive, lifeguard, swim instruction, and parenthood. We know what you’re looking for and what you want for your children. We are local in Gilbert and our kids play at the same parks, attend the same classrooms, and are enrolled in the same activities. We are truly a company within its community.

Our Staff:
Here at ALOHA Aquatic Center we are very proud of our staff. We believe in teamwork as a whole. While every instructor may have his or her own style, we as a team achieve excellence. All of our staff members are caring individuals who love children. Our staff of instructors holds mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications as well as weeks of on-site training. All of our instructors are experienced in teaching all levels of swimming, including advanced levels and stroke technique. We are constantly bettering ourselves as educators and within our program in order to offer you the best program around. We believe that the thousands of families who have stayed with our program for over seven years shows potential ALOHA families that we are a quality program here to offer the best possible service.

Giving Back To Our Community:
ALOHA Aquatic Center (formally known as Summer Splash Swim Program) takes great pride in giving back to its community. Whether it’s donating to local charities, MOMS clubs, MOPS, local Girl Scout troops, local preschools or grade schools, we want to make a difference in our community. ALOHA makes sure that we are a company within our community.

Philosophy:
ALOHA Aquatic Center has a few key points in our philosophy that all instructors follow:

  • Children should look forward to swim lessons ... it is a time to have fun and learn something new.
  • Parents should look forward to swim lessons ... it is time well-spent encouraging your child to learn possible life-saving skills.
  • Every instructor has his or her style and techniques. ALOHA's theory is that there is a "happy medium" between being too harsh and not teaching the child anything new at all.
  • The two most important things to learn are the ability to turn onto your back and/or swim to the side. In an emergency, it is so easy to panic and try to swim when a simple back float can be a safe way to breathe -- and buy some time.
  • ALOHA Aquatic Center realizes the instructors have the responsibility to bond with the child and make the swim lessons fun. At the same time, the child should be progressing and developing more skills.
  • We emphasize with each child the importance of having an adult around any time they are around water.
  • We have periodic "safety days". This entails the child being in the water fully-clothed and reviewing all the safety skills we have learned.

Why we feel swim lessons are important:

  • Nobody can make your child 100% water safe. The only sure way of preventing a child drowning is to watch your children around water. There are lessons that your child can learn to help prevent an accident from becoming a tragedy. We review these safety strategies at every lesson.
  • First, we emphasize with each child the importance of having an adult around any time they are around water.
  • Second, we teach what to do in case of a water emergency. Adults and children alike should stay calm, turn to their back, and concentrate on breathing until help arrives. This simple strategy can buy the child (or adult) a few minutes ... which is all it takes to save a life many times. Depending on the swimming ability of the person, we also teach him/her that he/she may be able to turn and swim to the side.
  • Lastly, we believe swim lessons should include a realistic trial of an emergency situation. Periodically we will have a "safety day." We ask the parent to bring an extra set of clothing for their child. The child reviews the safety skills she has learned in full clothing and shoes. This precaution teaches the child the difference clothes and shoes can make while trying to stay afloat.
